The effects of mold in children
If there is one safe place for our family, that will have to be our homes. But what happens if our homes get infected by the toxic mold? How does the mold affect our family and our children most especially?
The toxic mold affects our children – both in the physical and psychological aspect. How does this happen?
Mold can pose a very big danger to our kids especially to those with respiratory infection like bronchial infection and asthma. A mild asthma attack does not result to permanent damages but severe ones can get serious enough resulting to shortness of breath and in rare cases, death. A mild asthma attack can start from breathing difficulties when involved in slow physical activities such as eating, talking or walking. There are some cases when kids have a lower appetite and choose not to eat because they would rather stay outdoors for fresh air. Severe asthma attacks can a child breathless even when he is asleep. This can lead to breathing cessation, blackouts and confusion.
So how do you prevent mold from growing in your homes? To ensure that you have a mold-free home, keep
your home properly ventilated. Moisture is the key to mold growth. Without moisture, mold will not thrive. To do so, keep your windows and doors open as often and possible. You also have to keep an eye on the two moisture-prone rooms in your home. They are the bathroom and the kitchen. It is highly advised that you install dehumidifiers near these areas to help maintain good ventilation. Be watchful of plumbing leaks. This could also become a source for moisture. Your stockrooms have to be regularly cleaned up as well. Damp piles of newspapers and rags could result to excessive moisture as well. In doing your regular cleanup, it is highly encouraged that you use natural cleaners. As compared to commercial cleaners, green mold cleaners are harmless and safer not only to people’s health but to the environment as well.
Keep your home free from the toxic mold and you’re sure to have a happy home life with a healthy family and a healthy body.
